Nowadays many people look out for offbeat places in Uttarakhand (Kumaon or Garhwal) as most of the tourist places are mostly turning to concrete jungles. There is so much demand for these unknown or less known places in Uttarakhand that many of them are turning into tourist spots now.
When I suggest travel plans to my loved ones, including family and friends, I do ask them lots of questions to get to know what they are expecting from their offbeat vacation in Uttrakhand. It helps me suggest a memorable trip of their lifetime. Some of these questions include –
“Are you tired of being visiting the same old commercialized, tourist flocked, complete hustle-bustle like Rishikesh, Mussoorie, Nainital, Char Dham, etc.? Do you feel like going to some quiet, secluded, and peaceful place where you can spend quality time with your family, friends, and nature? Do you believe in off-the-beaten-track travel and love to explore new places? “
Well, many times I get a positive reply to most of these questions. Every other person, who frequently travels nowadays, is looking out for some quiet, peaceful, less commercialized, and non-touristy place in Uttarakhand or Himachal to spend their valuable vacation time.
So, in case if the answer to any of these questions is YES for you too, then this article is for you only.

You can go through these peaceful places in Uttarakhand below. I am sure you will add many of them in your next travel plans for a trip to Uttarakhand.
Let us first start with unseen places in Kumaon region.
Kumaon region of Uttarakhand brings to mind the title of that book written by Jim Corbett, “The Man-Eaters of Kumaon.” But, that was a long time ago, and a lot of areas in this region have now been inhabited by humans. This brings us to a peculiar problem – there are very few idyllic locations left now because tourists are everywhere.
So, if you were to go for a trip, away from the maddening crowds, and into the heart of nature, then where would it be? We say it should be in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, where adventure awaits everyone. Perhaps, you might also have a chance to encounter the man-eating Bengal tigers in Kumaon. You will never know until you go, so we bring you some options for the best offbeat destinations in the Kumaon region.
Touching Tibet, Kumaon is a stunning region, abundant with beauty all around – from snow-capped mountains to cobalt blue lakes – you’ve got everything covered, when in Kumaon. Forming half of Uttarakhand (Garhwal being the other dominant part), Kumaon packs a punch and then some!
Home of Nainital, Mukteshwar, Ranikhet, Jim Corbett National Park, Bhimtal – one would think that the Kumaon region is packed with tourists. However, take one turn and the traveler within you will jump with joy. The beauty of this place is serene, untouched, unexplored, and breath-taking!
Why is Kumaon so ignored when speaking of places to explore? The entire charm of the place for the people who love exploring this region is how un-explored it is by others! That’s the only way to think about Kumaon; you’ll be the only person standing on YOUR ground – that majestic feeling of accomplishing something will take you through many journeys, and will last you a lifetime.
It doesn’t get more offbeat than this! And you are in for a treat in the state of Uttarakhand if you visit Manila. Located about 85 km away from Ranikhet, the village of Manila is sitting at an altitude of 1820 meters and is a great place for a summer vacation.

Whatever it may be, Chopta is definitely a stunning location full of enchanting meadows and forests. Deoria Tal is an important trekking destination located close to Chopta.
For those who are interested in adventure tourism, Chopta can be a boon. Deoria Tal to Chandrashila Peak trekking is by far one of the most important treks. Chopta of course also offers stunning views of some Himalayan peaks, including Nanda Devi.

However, the view of the majestic peaks of the Himalayas, such as the Dronagiri is a sight to behold. This place is the very hill that Hanuman brought the Sanjivini to cure Laxman.
Mythological views aside, this lesser-known settlement brings about the rustic life to be enjoyed to the fullest and is inhabited by the Indo-Mongolian Bhotia tribes.
Inaccessible during the winter months, Malari is a treasure chest for unknown little trails. When all else fails, it is the easiest to walk out into the woods and learn the secrets that only nature can hold close.
This is one of the remotest locations around the region, and finding accommodation in Malari could be difficult. While there are few budget guesthouses in Malari, it is advised to carry your camping gear for fear of unavailability.
