You can now make online booking of tickets for the helicopter services running on the Katra – Sanjichhat – Katra section for Mata Vaishno Devi. The return fare from Katra – Sanjichhat – Katra is Rs 2,010 and the one-way fare is Rs 1,005 (as of September 2018). After confirming the ticket online, you need to carry valid identity proof such as a PAN card, voter ID card, driving license, passport, etc.
I believe this will certainly help a lot more people (mainly physically challenged / unfit or old aged) to visit the holy place and surely is a welcome step by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB). Thanks to them for the same as perhaps now my parents can also try to attempt this divine pilgrimage.

Updates – January 2022
- The Vaishno Devi ticket fare is increased to Rs 1005/- one way and Rs 2010 return as of September 2018.
- Cancellation of helicopter tickets is allowed now and it can be done till 7 days in advance and a 50% amount is refunded.
- The reservation starts at 10.00 AM now instead of 00.00 hrs earlier.
- Online Yatra parchi is now free of cost ( earlier it was at Rs 50/-) and about 15000 parchies are open for booking every day.
- Online booking of helicopter services for Vaishno Devi opens up 60 days in advance at 10 AM and it can be done a minimum of 4 days in advance of the journey.
- Pawan Hans will no more operate from 01.04.14, the contract is given to Himalayan Heli Services from 01.04.14 Global & Himalayan Heli Services will operate only.
Can I get current Vaishno Devi Helicopter Tickets at the counter?
Yes, you can purchase the current helicopter tickets of Vaishno Devi from the ticket counter at Katra. You need to have a valid photo ID proof for yourself and all members of your group to avail the current tickets.
Now, Yatra’s registration slip (parchi) is mandatory to purchase the current Vaishno Devi helicopter tickets at the counter. Please do not fall for any touts or agents and note that the charges of helicopter tickets are Rs 1005 for one way and Rs 2010 for a return ticket. The rates are exclusive of any taxes which will be charged in addition to it.
You may encounter a lot of touts or agents trying to cheat you by charging more money for the Vaishno Devi helicopter tickets. DO NOT purchase such tickets as it is not allowed officially.
Vaishno Devi Helicopter Tickets – Online Booking Process
Time needed: 1 hour
Below is the detailed step-by-step process of booking the Maa Vaishno Devi helicopter tickets online.
- User Registration on Maa Vaishno Devi Official Website
Register by clicking the ‘New User Registration’ and provide all the details.
Only one user registration is allowed. It is best to register from a network from which you are sure that no one else would have registered before. Otherwise, the website will not allow you to register. Use your mobile network maybe if nothing works.
- Select flight DateTime and check availability
After successful registration, select the date, route details, flight, and several passengers. Check the availability and start entering passenger details. One user can only book a maximum of 5 helicopter tickets from one credit card or debit card in a month.
- Enter passenger details carefully
Make sure you submit the correct details, double-check before submitting the final step. Once, you submit the details they cannot be changed. Many people make mistakes, so I will recommend that you check all the details twice.
- Make the payment
Enter the credit card or debit card details for processing the payment. On successful payment, you must take the printout of the reservation slip and note down the transaction ID. The transaction will start showing in the Successful transaction history of the home page.
- Check transaction status for any errors
When you are making a reservation and a technical problem happens, make sure that you check the transaction status.
a. If the transaction status is successful, then you do not need to do anything. Now, you can take the printout of your reservation using the re-print option.
b. In the case of a failed transaction, you can retry a new reservation. If the amount has been deducted, you can send the email to ‘online@maavaishnodevi.org’ for the processing of a refund. You should provide the transaction details including tracking ID number / Trace number, user ID, and transaction date.
c. You must send refund requests within 30 days of travel otherwise no refund will be issued. - Take the printout of the Electronic Reservation Slip
Once you make the online reservation, you should take the printout of the Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS). This will need to be presented with other required documents including an original credit card or debit card along with a valid photo ID address proof. Also, you must save the Transaction ID somewhere for all future references. If you cannot take the printout of the ERS, you can send an email to ‘online@maavaishnodevi.org’ within 48 hours of the transaction date.
Important Note – Vaishno Devi Helicopter Tickets
Please note that www.maavaishnodevi.org is the only official website of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB). You should use only this website for any online purchases including the purchase of helicopter tickets and SHOULD NOT use any other unofficial means to purchase the tickets. The above-mentioned rates in this article are official rates and only taxes are extra to be paid with it. SMVDSB does not have authorized any travel agent to sell helicopter tickets. Hence, you should not pay any other charges to an agent as it is not allowed officially to purchase tickets by other means.
Cancellation Policy of Vaishno Devi Helicopter Tickets
- You can cancel the helicopter tickets booked online using the official website only. You cannot request the cancellations over the counter or other means.
- You will get 70% of the fare in return and 30% gets deducted against processing charges.
- You can cancel your helicopter tickets up to 4 days in advance before the scheduled date of travel.
- The amount will get refunded to the same account through which you did the transaction.
- In case of cancellation of the helicopter flights from Katra to Sanjichhat or Sanjichhat to Katra due to bad weather or other technical reasons, a full refund will be made to you. In such a case, pilgrims should submit their online Helicopter ticket to the respective helicopter operator.
Important Questions – Vaishno Devi Helicopter Tickets
You should carry the original Credit Card or Debit card with which you have purchased the helicopter tickets for Vaishno Devi yatra. In the absence of the original credit card or debit card, you will be denied boarding without any refund.
In addition, you must carry an original valid Photo ID and Address Proof for yourself and everyone in your group, without which boarding will be denied. The documents which are accepted are Passport, Aadhar Card, Driving Licence, Voters ID or PAN card, or any Credit Card with Photo.
The helicopter ride takes just 8-10 minutes from Katra to Sanjichhat and a similar time it takes to return from Sanjichhat to Katra.
Children below two years of age are allowed to ride free provided they are carried in the lap of the parents. In case of a dispute, you may be required to present a copy of your child’s birth certificate. So, do carry it with you.
You should reach at least 1 hr before the departure of your helicopter flight to Katra or Sanjichhat. If you do not reach in time, you may be marked as NO SHOW and no refund will be issued in such a case.
The helipad is about 2 KMs away from the Katra bus stand. You can either walk/hike or take a local auto/taxi to reach the Helipad and board your flight.
Vaishno Devi Bhawan is about 2.5 KMs from the Sanjicchat helipad. The gradient of the walk is low and simple, you will easily reach Bhawan in an hr or so from the Sanjichhat helipad.
The helicopter will carry 5-6 passengers in one flight.
Yes, the Vaishno Devi helicopter flights are subject to weather, visibility, and flying conditions. If it is unsafe to travel or fly, the flights will be canceled. A full refund of tickets will be issued in such a case.

Briefing Governor NN Vohra, who is the Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, RK Goyal, CEO of the shrine board, said after pursuing a transparent bidding process the one-way passenger fare for the helicopter travel between Katra and Sanjichhat had come down from Rs 1,225 per passenger to Rs 699 per passenger from April 1 this year.
Expressing satisfaction over the significant reduction in the helicopter fares, the Governor hoped that a large number of senior citizens and physically challenged pilgrims would get an opportunity to avail of this facility, considering that the helicopter service was now available at a reasonable price. He called for effective day-to-day monitoring of the helicopter operations.
Goyal stated that for the convenience of the pilgrims the board had further streamlined the procedure for ticketing of the helicopter services on the Katra-Sanjichhat-Katra sector.
He added that the passengers, who wished to avail of the helicopter services, could log on to the shrine board’s website (www.maavaishnodevi.org) and confirm an e-ticket after making the required payment.
The Yatris could also avail of the online ticketing facility through the website of the two helicopter operators, viz, Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd ( https://www.pawanhans.co.in ) and Global Vectra Helicorp Ltd (http://www.onlineglobalhelicorp.com ).
Dr Mandeep Bhandari, Additional CEO of the board, clarified that a pilgrim possessing an e-ticket must carry a valid proof of his or her identity like a passport, PAN card, voter ID card, driving license etc., which bore the name and other particulars of the pilgrim to secure a hassle-free access to the heliports at Katra and Sanjichhat.
He advised all pilgrims, who intended to avail of the helicopter services, to secure a confirmed ticket before finalizing their travel plans.

Well, you need to have a credit or debit card of any bank to make the payment. You can use shrine board website to book accommodation at Bhawan. You have to make full payment to book helicopter tickets and make room bookings.
Use only Internet Explorer 7 or 8, otherwise site will not work as required.
For online ticket bookings: You can register at the official website of Vaishno Devi linked here and then after login to Devotee account, you can book tickets using the link to helicopter services and make the payment using any Credit/Debit card of any bank on the official website. You can book tickets only 30 days in advance of your travel date. The cost of the ticket is Rs 699 for one way. You can check the current price. You can book your tickets and check more details regarding helicopter services to Maa Vaishno Devi at the link here as well.
As soon as you book the tickets, first your status on the page for transaction should be Successful (check link-’Check transaction status’) and there will be one more status in devotee zone which could be “In Process”. Then wait for 48-72 hrs for this status to change to “confirmed”. Once, the status is changed to “confirmed” there will be a confirmation by e-mail from the Helicopter Service Provider which ever you booked. After that you need to take the print out of this page with you at the time of Yatra and the print out of confirmation email. You will be required to show these print out along with the photo identity proofs at the time of boarding the helicopter.
Please note that, the process of getting the return in case of any transaction failure is pretty painstaking and slow. Hence, do not book in case you are not sure about the travel dates or your plan is tentative or your first transaction is failed (it is likely that second will also fail. So, more amount will be stuck) etc.
Also, note that no refund is made for cancellations and no pre-postponement of the timings will be entertained. Hence, book with extreme caution with respect to details.

I am not able to register in maavaishnodevi.org website. It says data already exists but when i try to retrieve the login credentials, it says no user found with this ID. I had a darshan of Maata Di last month by heli services. I would like to describe and give suggestions of my experience :
1. Don’t expect all six of you if booked in one slot will go together for that slot, there is no order in it, they are breaking the team of six of a slot according to their wish and accommodating in the previous or next slot.
2. We are asked to come one hour before fine (this is important for those who have booked before 8 slots) but the main gate outside the helipad office is opened by the keeper only by 8AM or so. Meanwhile people with tickets and without tickets just flock around the gate and gatecrash. The office staff member enter one by one through this gate only after 8 AM. So for those who have booked before 8 AM try and stand near the gate opening where the keeper stands and show him your tickets and convince him to send you before others who are actually after you. Inside the office the pawan hans counter is on the right and adjacent to it is vectra which is just opposite to you as you enter. Stand in the counter and try and give your ticket to the counter fellow (there are three sitting in pawan hans besides each other, one collects the tickets and calls each to check members weight and notes it on ticket, the other writes it in a register and gives the ticket with boarding pass to the third who again makes some note and issues it to us) and remind him your slot and ask him to collect as per the slot timing which he should be doing. Then after these office guys settle down with their material and computers start calling one by one in the order that he had collected the tickets from all. There are recommendation cases who drop in between who are given preference which we cant say anything, I request someone strongly objects to this since we struggle to get these tickets and that too adhere to their rules of coming as early as one hr before which the staff does not follow strictly, still land up sandwiched among those who are behind you or without ticket or who come late. Its total chaos, total indiscipline, total disorder as for the office functioning is concerned. These staff guys are used to it and its their routine job who don’t feel for our sentiments and hardwork to get there. All I want to say is come early be a part of the Chaos and get your departure time only by 9 AM even if you are among 1st few slots. So plan the booking of return tickets according to this time and the time it takes for darshan and other misc. which I mentioned below. Carry everyones identity card this is imp. and very much required. Don’t be casual if your children are one among you.
3. Don’t carry handycams, strictly prohibited. Digital camers are allowed.
4. Imp. is if you are split while leaving katra helipad (inspite of booking your team in one particular slot time), ask the 1st team leaving katra to wait at sanjichat helipad for the other team to arrive so that you can get the latest return time stamped on your tickets for the entire team. You may have to follow this return time to be available for the return flight irrespective of the return flight booked timing. A bit of delay is relaxed. The one hour before time when I returned was never followed. We were 10 mins late as per their stamped time. (stamping is just getting a hand written time on the ticket by their staff)
5. After getting down at sanjichat if you luckily find pony take them (per head Rs.240) till bhavan. Actually these pony start from Bhavan to sanjichat and then return to bhavan. So you can find many in bhavan, but at sanjichat only when somebody is returning from bhavan. So start walking the 2.5 kms once you don’t find any pony to avoid delay. From s.chat to bhavan is walkable its plain and a bit slope as you approach bhavan. Takes 40 to 50 mins walk.
6. No parchi is required for heli ride passengers. You are allowed to join the regular queue from about half km before the deity. This is what is VIP passage.
7. Before this you have to spend say about 10 mins for the locker on the way before you join the queue which I mentioned above. You have to climb metal steps of 10 to 15 on left side and cross a small wooden overbridge towards the right side and again get down and take the key and put on your things and lock and return the same while coming. Lockers are srong and lock is provided by them.
8. From the queue where you join it takes 45 mins to 1 hr to have darshan and comeout.
9. My suggestion is to get on time for the return heli, get the ponys as you may not able to walk by now having got tired and also to avoid the delay. The actual pony cost is Rs.170 as per the counter which is a bit far while returning after darshan. There will be many pony’s available before we can reach the counter and the route of which is a bit elevated. This seems to be a strategy by the pony fellows. So you have a choice to reach the counter first book for the pony and wait for the pony to come there or get the pony for 240 from nearby bhavan itself.
10. By pony you are able to reach helipad by 20 mins.

First and foremost, the mentioned website in your comment is not my website but run by official shrine board of Maa Vaishno Devi. You need to use Internet Explorer browser only and that too less than version 9. That is, the website only works with IE8, IE7, IE6 (not sure on this one) I guess though I tried to login using IE7 and IE8 only which was successful. When I try it using IE9 or any other browser, it does not work.
The website has been revamped and in order to make things simpler for devotees a lot of changes have been done. The process of online booking might be simpler now once everything is in place and start working correctly, which currently is not.

Yatra parchi ki zarurat nhn hoti agar helicopter ticket ho to. Recently, website change ho gayi hai saari and shayad kuch halaat sahi ho jayein. Aap different time slots k liye try kara karo aur sirf IE browser ko use kara karo. Iske alwa mujhe nhn lagta ki online aap zada kuch kar sakte ho.

I have been trying for 2 days but the rooms at bhavan are not available at 12:00 AM! When I try at 11:59 PM it would not allow me to book tickets, but at midnight it is already NA.

I am a regular visitor to the shrine and always get my helicopter booking done online but on my last visit I came to know through the people that all the tickets get booked evenbefore these are released by the shrine board. But to day I am surprised that when I tried to book my ticket and opened the website of shrine board which had shown UNDER MAINTENANCE which started from 9.30 P.M and remained under maintenance till 6.00 AM & when opened all the tickets were sold. This clearly indicates that ther is some misappropreation in the booking of the tickets. This is just to bring to your kind notice about the issuance of tickets online is not regular.

Again 3 Hrs is a bit too tight as per me. It should be atleast 4 Hrs, if not 5. You have to walk about 2.5 KMs which will take about 1 Hr approx, and then 1 Hr for coming back and this leaves you with 1 Hr for Darshan and all. If there is rush then you might get late. So, I feel at least 4 Hr gap should be there between the two flights and you have to pray that there is not too much rush.
If you are considering Barionnath darshan then probably add about 1.5 Hrs (for up & down) to it, since the climb is a bit steep, so if you are not too much fit then you will of course take good amount of breaks.

I guess 4 hrs shall be fine if you make quick enough progress. The distance to bhawan from Sanjichatt is about 2.5KMs and you can walk up-down in about 2 Hrs if you do not take too long breaks easily. 1 Hr for Darshan but depends upon the rush and if you get free quickly then you can even go for Bhaironnath ji temple. I will advice atleast one of your family member who is quick and fit enough should definitely think of doing the bhaironath ji temple because without offering prayers at bhaironnath ji, the pilgrimage is not said to be complete.

Yes, the time appears to be very low I guess.
1. I guess you will not be able to make it in time even from Bhawan considering there are old as well as young people. If there is rush, then totally forget that. Now, Bhairon Mandir trek is a bit steep and hard and will take more time. So, I do not think you will be able to make it in 2 Hrs.
2 and 3. I do not think they adjust the timings. You need to check once you reach there.
4. AFAIK, there are no autos run. Paalki, Ponnies are the two options.
5. No since, you have helicopter tickets you will get a semi-VIP pass and should not require any Yatra Purchi as per Arpit's update above.

Bhairo Mandir to Katra will take about 5-6 Hrs on an average but in the end depends upon how you climb down and number of breaks you take in between.

I guess the tickets are not transferable officially but may be there should be other means used by travel agents who book the tickets in their name mostly and still people fly, though I am not sure about it.

It is better that you book tickets in two slots online itself. Check the official website, to see if you require any ticket for 2 Yr child or not. If it is not required, then in that case, you will be able to book all six tickets in one slot only. You should start trying to book tickets from 26th April mid-night and continue to try every one hour with different timings untill you get the tickets. Some of the people above followed this trick to get their tickets booked online. I hope this helps.

O yes, that will always be the concern always. But, I checked the terms and conditions which states that "Children below 2 years of age will be carried free of cost. However, such children shall be carried in the lap of the accompanying adult. In case of dispute regarding age of child, valid proof of age shall be the deciding factor" . I that is applicable then you need only one slot.

1. I read your entire post and came across Aparna's post where she mentioned that after hitting payment button site redirects to home page of site. I faced exactly similar problem yesterday. Based on your inputs I started booking process at midnight, I filled form and after few pages came across web page with Payment>> button, when I clicked this button website opened home page with broken images instead of redirecting to Bank's payment page. I tried till 2:00 AM for at least 10 times but unfortunately not able to book ticket. I was very disappointed then today morning I tried similar process on same machine (Windows 7, IE 9.0) and this time with the blessing of mata rani I succeeded to book tickets for 6 adults. (Global Vectra – 10:10AM – Katra to Sanjichhat)
I just wonder whats the issue last night?
2. I have got now "In progress" status but as mentioned in one of the posts Helicopter departure time is not mentioned anywhere. May be I will get timing in their confirmation mail.

Like Prashant, I too had the same problem where none of the payment gateways were working at midnight.
Finally they worked at 3am and then I was able to book the helicopter and room (some of which somehow shows up as booked !!)

3. You do not need the Yatra Purchi as I guess you will be getting the VIP pass for the Darshan since you have helicopter tickets while going to bhawan. Read Arpit's post above for more details.
4. Yes, I guess it is safe though I have not used the service but feel it should be very much safe. I hope you are not carrying too much valuable things 🙂 … Locker guys will provide the lock and the facility is at Bhawan.
5. It depends upon your fitness, coming down is easy and fast. You can take stairs as well at some places if you have good health and it will help
you reach down very soon. I feel last time we went, we did it in like 3.5-4 Hrs
6. Yes, there are lots of food joints all the way upto bhawan.
7. AFAIK, there is only one route to Bhaironnath ji, that goes near Bhawan only. In any case, you need to first visit Bhawan for mata darshan and then only you should go for Bhaironnath ji.

booking online is really mess. i had not thought that it would be so heavy even at mid night booking heli tickets, first i awiated on 5th march 11.59 pm to book tickets for 6th april 2012.
for 2 hours from 12 midnight to 2 the website did not even take me to payment screen of hdfc, but i got up again at 3.00 am and tried by then many slots were booked, but finally i got tickets at 11.10 in the morning and return at 5.05 pm on 6th april, really it was tedious, first 2 transactions got declied. immediately i called hdfc and confirmed at 3.00 am whether amount is deducted thn thrid time it was successfull, be careful of amount being deducted.

You need not get the Yatra Purchias you have the helicopter tickets. The VIP passes will be handed over to you by helicopter service provider.
Since, you will be carrying the valid ID proofs, it should not be an issue.

For online ticket bookings: You can register at the official website of Vaishno Devi linked here and then after login to Devotee account, you can book tickets using the link to helicopter services and make the payment using any Credit/Debit card of any bank on the official website. You can book tickets only 30 days in advance of your travel date. The cost of the ticket is Rs 699 for one way. You can check the current price. You can book your tickets and check more details regarding helicopter services to Maa Vaishno Devi at the link here as well.
As soon as you book the tickets, first your status on the page for transaction should be Successful (check link-’Check transaction status’) and there will be one more status in devotee zone which could be “In Process”. Then wait for 48-72 hrs for this status to change to “confirmed”. Once, the status is changed to “confirmed” there will be a confirmation by e-mail from the Helicopter Service Provider which ever you booked. After that you need to take the print out of this page with you at the time of Yatra and the print out of confirmation email. You will be required to show these print out along with the photo identity proofs at the time of boarding the helicopter.
Please note that, the process of getting the return in case of any transaction failure or cancellations is pretty painstaking and slow. Hence, do not book in case you are not sure about the travel dates or your plan is tentative or your first transaction is failed (it is likely that second will also fail. So, more amount will be stuck) etc.

1. For 07/05/2012 you may have to book on 06/04/2012 any time after 12 AM. ie after 11.59 PM of 05/04/2012.
For this you need to set some alarm or reminder on your mobile or any other gadget or tick it on your daily calendar for 4th, 5th. To be double sure about the date(30 days before) and also to get a hang of the system, try the day before ie on 4th Wee hours.
2. For 9 persons you have to take two slots. 6 in one and 3 in other. Try to book aged or patients if any in the 1st slot of 6 so that if you dont get next subsequent slots you may find some other solution of pony or palki.
3. Axis bank credit card should work not sure since for other bank option it should take any bank card.

Please find answer to your queries in respective order below –
1. I guess, if you start by evening and keep up the good pace, you can return back in the morning. So, I guess overall it takes about 13-14 Hrs for the whole up and down provided there is average rush at Bhawan. If there is some real urgency or risk for doing inthe same day then preferably book the helicopter tickets at least from Katra to Sanjichatt to save time and it will let you get the VIP pass as well.
2. Yes, the card will work but again 2 of you will have to make bookings because as per the process you cannot make more than 6 persons booking.

The online booking of helicopter is mess, Since it only allows to do 30 days advance booking, I sat at night to ensure I do not miss the date. I tried for several hours but all the time after entering the details it failed to take me to payment gateway. And in the morning it started displaying message that "Helicopter Booking already reserverd on this date,please try another date." And, there is no response to any phone calls. Even my email did not proper information in response. Is this just to fool!
I believe, this blog has tremendous potential to inform and keep the devotees updated of the process to visit Maa Vaishno Devi.However, the system which promises to be reliable and efficient for visitors is not that robust and full of errors. Although i have observed few points to share here..
1- Though the booking starts only 30days in advance for rooms or heli service, please avoid using the HDFC and Citi payment gateways at night. As usually that's the time when maintainence is carried out on banking systems, which will make you more prone to losing your money followed by a complete messed process for refund.
2- If month is of 31 days then ensure that you select one day less while you'r trying to book e.g if you're booking tickets on 4th March then you should be selecting 3rd April in the booking for period. Sytem there also acts in a funny way, where 30 days advance is not applicable to rooms and heli booking alike.
3-Always use HDFC payment gateway as even if your money is fofeited, it will be returned back to the account that was used for booking. Whereas in the Citibank payment gateway, charges are high and if your money is forfeited than you will have wait for 4weeks to receive a DD.
5-Always use Internet Explorer to make your bookings not any other browser, as they are not fully claimed by shrine board to be suppored during booking process. Delete your cookies and do a fresh booking by logging on to your website credentials in the Devotee Zone. Please ensure, that you don't take much time to book your rooms or helicopter bookings as cookies stored by the sytems gets expried soon and that doesn't even give you any sign of that. Devotee Zone does not have a logout procedure only login one. So, if you're logged onto the online account for a while, and whey you are rerouted to payment gateway it will likely end up outside your profile and block your funds.
These are some of the the points that i wanted to share which might prove to be beneficial for every devotee here. JAI MATA DI….!!!!

For those who do not know there is also other bank debit cards option other than HDFC and Citi. It is just that the HDFC and Citi payment gateway is used. I had booked using the other debit card option. So those who may think by seeing only the HDFC and Citi options on the first page of booking may not get dejected.
WHen you first see HDFC or Citi, select any of these and enter your details as required and then proceed further where again you will have to select the payment options after personal details entry. Here again the HDFC and Citi is shown alongwith 'other bank' which can be selected. Any bank debit card is accepted for this option. If you have problem of getting back to Home page with any bank debit card try another debit card if you have like ICICI etc.
Whenever you get home page after entering all the card details, just confirm in another browser whether any amt has been debited from that banks account, if not then it is not successful. This way you may not be in a dilemma whether it has booked and you need not book again OR whether it has debited without booking etc.
So whether susccessful or not check once your account of that bank if it is debited or not.
So this way the early hours of 12 AM booking can be done confidently even if some maintenance of systems which was mentioned by one of the bloggers may take place.
My suggestion is if you want to get a hang of the system do a dry run anyday upto the payment details for the next month date of current date. You may try this any time in day to avoid blocking the genuine bookers in early hours.

1-If your money gets stuck in any of the transaction, please ensure you send an email immdiately to online@maavaishnodevi.org alongwith following details..

2- Once received, you will get an email saying that your attempt of failed trasaction was received by website and same has been forwarded to bank for confirmation. From that email, it takes about 4weeks time for refund ot process.
3- Online department creates a Sr No: and sends to Accounts dept at Katra. In order to follow up with accounts department, please ensure that you have Sr No- handy with you. Once given to them, they would be abel to give you status. For follow up with Accounts department please contact at 09906047073.
4- Besides, shrine board is going to launch a better interface or website soon for devotess for online trasactions, where they are planning to do away with citibank payment gateway altogher.

Even I faced the same issue.. I tried the day before and got the hang of the site.. but couldnt connect to the payment gateway.. The same happened today as well.. I think this is just to fool us. The Agents already book theirs in some other way and charge ppl upto thrice the amount!
I believe, online booking service of helicopter tickets are completely mess. One can not book ticket before 30 days. and when try to book with in 30 days. there is no availbility (all already booked). Its bullshit, i believe.
Yes, Subash the online bookings are in mess for sure with no defined process, lots of confusion and still people do not get the tickets 🙁 … Nothing can be done until Shrine Board takes some serious action against the responsible guys for the same.

1. It is about 2.5 KMs, so it should take about 1.25-1.75 Hrs at leisurely walk. Sometimes, you need to wait in case of rush even when you have VIP pass.
2. I guess it is given at at Sanjichatt but not sure about it.
3. In case, there is heavy rush then yes indeed it really helps.
4. 5 Hrs should be fine I feel but do not take necessary stops or delays.
5. Not sure. Maybe Arpit can help on this or some other guy who have traveled.

—VIP Passes or the yatra Parchi will be given when you land at SanjjhiChhat. There is a counter for the same.

—FOR HELI_RIDE, I saw people carrying Handycams.etc however security(at Helipad) would ask you to take out the battery during checkin and sec check before boarding and till you reach Sanjjhichhat..

— Yes you can, Most of us carried , cash ,imp papers, boarding pass, credit or debit Cards.etc in pockets..Everythig else like wallets,belts, bags,shoes,etc can be left in locker.. Like, Dheeraj already said, Leather and Electronics are not allowed…

Does that mean taking snaps with digital camera is allowed but handycam is not allowed.

With Blessings of Mata Rani, I successfully completed my trip Feb 20-22 and had wonderful Darshan at Darbar. Info provided in your blog was very helpful and me and my family were delighted to use the one way Heli service fom Katra to SanjjhiChhat. We were also luck as the Old Gufa was open during darshan.
Based on my experiences, I have tried to summarize the process and would like to share it with you for benefit of other devotees.
I also had a failed transaction initially and recieved a demand draft at my address without much hassle.

– Heli Tickets can only be booked at http://www.maavaishnodevi.org and not at website of service provider (Global Vectra).
However, based on availability, tickets can be booked from counters at the HeliPad in Katra or SanjjhiChhat and other counters.
I saw Global Vectra counter enroute very near to Bhavan, the other one is at White Hotel, Katra.
– Tickets can only be booked 30 days in advance.(So you can book a ticket for the 31st day from the midnight of current date)
– Devotee can book One way trip from (Katra to SanjhiChhat,SanjhiChhat to Katra)
– Helicopter capacity is Maximum of 6 people.
– Only one successful transaction (each side) is allowed per login id in a month.
For Ex:- You can make one successful reservation from (Katra to SanjhiChhat and then SanjhiChhat to Katra) in a month. NOTE- This is a good way to find if
your transaction is successful. In that case it will not allow you to make another reservation for that way and will throw the message.
– Please note the Track Id given when the transaction is completed. Track Id, User ID,transaction date are the most important pieces of info needed when
communicating wih online@maavaishnodevi.org for failed transaction refund.
– Once the transaction is done, check your transactions in the devotee zone by using your user name and password. It will reflect all successful transactions
ONLY. Otherwise transaction is failure, no reservation is allotted against failure transaction
In case your transaction does not reflect in the devotee zone, amount is deducted form the card then, Please send the details (username and transaction date)
to online@maavaishnodevi.org for tracing your transaction. From my experience, please provide details like
TrackID, User ID, Name, mobile Number,email address. amount deducted. Date of Journey,time slot, Transaction Date.etc
– Successful transaction will show with a status of 'in process' and will turn to 'confirmed' in 1-3 days. Devotee will recieve a confirmation email from
admin@maavaishnodevi.org
– Please communicate with online@maavaishnodevi.org, for Failure Transaction refund, In case of HDFC Gateway the refund will be credited into Account where
as in case of City Bank Gateway the refund will be in shape of DD.This process will take Approx 4 weeks. In case of HDFC please check with your bank with in
2 weeks and if refund is not received back please intimate online@maavaishnodevi.org with your user ID.
– I communicated with online@maavaishnodevi multiple times for a refund and recieved prompt response within 24-48 hrs everytime.
– Devotees who buy Heli tkts (One way or roundtrip) dont have to necessarily get the Yatri Parchis from Niharika Bhavan (at bus stop, Katra)
as they get the yatri parchis or in most cases VIP passes when they reach SanjhiChhat. (Only Devotees booking one way return from SanjjhiChhat to Katra may
need to get them.)
Additional Info —
– Mobile Phone Connectivity- Only Post paid connections(from other states) work in J&K. Prepaid connections do not work. Most of the popular service
providers are available.
– Digital Cameras are allowed.
– Distance from SanjjhiChhat to Bhavan is approx 2.5 Kms.

Fantastic information just as Sri Dheeraj is doing. Some points which I was searching I got answers from you.
I have booked 6 for next month 28th, I have to get confirmation and email. Pl. clarify the following since you have already had a darshan.
1. how much time did it take from sanjhichat to bhavan by walk?
2. Where is the VIP pass for heli users given, is it at the helipad before departure at katra or after landing at sanjhichat?
3. DId the pass really benefit in the sense was the time reduced significantly?
4. I have booked for 7.50 from katra and 12.05 from sanjhichat, can I make it for 12.05 time.
5. Is being present one hour before (11.05 in my case) departure at sanjhichat maintained strictly or can i be there by 11.30?
6. Do we have to bring key and lock for the lockers at bhavan or they provide lock and key with lockers?
7. Can I bring handycam on chopper to shoot while take off, the scene on the way & while landing as you say digital camera is allowed.
8. Can we have the return ticket in our pockets while darshan or sld that also be put in locker?
9. How much time it will take for darshan from the point of VIP queue and come out?

Please find the answers below-
1. It is about 2.5 KMs, so it should take about 1.25-1.75 Hrs at leisurely walk. Sometimes, you need to wait in case of rush even when you have VIP pass.
2. I guess it is given at at Sanjichatt but not sure about it.
3. In case, there is heavy rush then yes indeed it really helps.
4. 5 Hrs should be fine I feel but do not take necessary stops or delays.
5. Not sure. Maybe Arpit can help on this or some other guy who have traveled.

I am not a travel agent or tour operator and do not book any tickets. The blog/website is just for informational purposes. However, you can check the links provided in the article above to book your tickets from the official websites of Maa Vaishno Devi, Pawan Hans or Online Global Heli Corp. mentioned above. Its fairly simple and straight forward process once you register at the official sites mentioned in the article.
For online ticket bookings: You can register at the official website of Vaishno Devi linked here and then after login to Devotee account, you can book tickets using the link to helicopter services and make the payment using any Credit/Debit card of any bank on the official website. You can book tickets only 30 days in advance of your travel date. The cost of the ticket is Rs 699 for one way. You can check the current price. You can book your tickets and check more details regarding helicopter services to Maa Vaishno Devi at the link here as well.
As soon as you book the tickets, first your status on the page for transaction should be Successful (check link-’Check transaction status’) and there will be one more status in devotee zone which could be “In Process”. Then wait for 48-72 hrs for this status to change to “confirmed”. Once, the status is changed to “confirmed” there will be a confirmation by e-mail from the Helicopter Service Provider which ever you booked. After that you need to take the print out of this page with you at the time of Yatra and the print out of confirmation email. You will be required to show these print out along with the photo identity proofs at the time of boarding the helicopter.
Please note that, the process of getting the return in case of any transaction failure or cancellations is pretty painstaking and slow. Hence, do not book in case you are not sure about the travel dates or your plan is tentative or your first transaction is failed (it is likely that second will also fail. So, more amount will be stuck) etc.

Sir, i wud like to know whether ford figo as a hatchback car which have normal road clearance, would be a reliable option to go with, means in terms of road condition and other factors.

Well, yes you can drive to Leh in your hatch back but you need to take some precautions while you drive especially on Manali – Leh Highway.
For cars, although an SUV/MUV is good to have and a 4WD SUV will definitely help but I have seen hatchbacks (including Altos and Nano) and sedans doing good enough job on Manali – Leh Highway. However, with sedans / hatchbacks one must drive with extra care and caution. Also, be ready for few scratches or sacrifice some parts on your sedans / hatchbacks under-belly due to the lack of enough ground clearance which may be required in some water crossings or landslides on Manali – Leh Highway.

Dear friends,
I'm travelling with my parents (senior citizens with knee issues) on Mar 1st. For my parents, I got 9 am helicopter tickets to go up (Katra to Sanjichatt). But, I'm unable to get return (Sanjichatt to Katra) heli tickets with enough time for darshan.
So, I'm thinking of staying overnight, since Mar 2nd early morning .. heli ticket (Sanjichatt to Katra) is available.
Now the problem is that rooms are unavailable (online). I'm unable to get Mar 1st overnight room or dorm booking at Bhawan and Sanjichatt. Any advice? Do you know if some rooms are released at last minute for booking? Should I contact some agent for this?

It may be a temporary issue only with the website. May be you can try your luck at some later day. Personally, I have never booked the room from this website. I hope if someone has done it before, he/she may provide the required inputs.

Last month I posted an update regarding my bookings through Pawan Hans. I cancelled my tickets due to date change. I faced a lot of problem for cancellation and to get my refund back.
But, finally today I got my refund. My hard work paid and the refund was done after 2 months.
So, to help you people, I am providing the details to process the refund.
All you need to do is to drop a mail to:

I understand your concern. Even I was worried initially about these ids. But, due to some luck, I got a mobile number of a senior person of Pawan Hans. I called him, talked to him, explained everything to him. He then himself suggested me to mail on these ids and wait for sometime. Even after mailing, the person will get a reply from them, but I am not sure whether it is an auto reply or not. However, I feel that atleast giving it a try is not bad rather than having no hope of refund.

I guess as long as you have any bank's credit or debit card, you can make the payment. They do not ask for HDFC or Citibank Cards rather they are just the Payment Gateways that has been implemented by the official website. It is same as you go for shopping and swipe machine are of different banks but you can still shop using your card. Same way Payment Gateways can be of different banks but that does not mean you should have card for those banks only. I hope this helps. Let me know for any doubts or queries.

but i did book the ticket and got track id no- after that it ask me for my visa verification password, that was fine. as i hit the submit button the page was redirected to homepage and non of the image can be seen just letters. and they did not gave me any trace no- or order no-. so i check transaction status and they ask me for trace no- and order no- which i don't have. i did to bookings 1 for up and 1 for down and both appears with same problems

We are in the same boat. I am in US and when I did the online booking, it took our visa details but did not give a confirmation page and the transaction doesnt show up in 'devotee zone'. Also, my credit card has not been charged yet.
I emailed the online@maavaishnodevi.org. But the reply was very vague. I did the transaction on Feb 2nd.
I would be interested in knowing what you did? Did you book once again?

I do not think there should be any problem but just on the safer side drop a mail to them and go with all the required documents and your original PhotoId card for which you have given the reference. I hope this helps.

1. Tkts can be booked only 30 days in advance.
2.No, it is not compulsory to book return Tkts. You can book just one way tkts as well.

Yes, Smita as Arpit suggested you can book your tickets 30 days in advance from the Maa Vaishno Devi website and 31 days in advance from one of the operators website, I guess Pawan Hans. Try all three websites starting 31 days in advance and you will be able to book the tickets. You can book tickets for one side as well. If you are residing in Delhi, then you can also contact Pawan Hans office (011-24615711) in Delhi near Safdarjung airport as well and I guess they provide the tickets from there as well. Call them in advance as I am not sure about it.

Before getting your blog I had many questions regarding helicopter service as I have booked 5 tickets for 1st March 12. The status is "IN PROCESS". I tried all the helpline nos given by Global vectra and Pawan Hans but either those were switched off or nobody replied. After reading your replies to the other devotee I got all the answers automatically.
This is first time I am going with my parents and my newborn first daughter (2months).
I would pray to Maa Vaishno to give you health, wealth and happiness as you are really doing a gr8 job without any charge.

I booked the ticket for 3 on 29/ 01/2012 for 16 feb 12 ,transaction status showing in devotee zone is in process . Will I get the confirm status or not as I have not booked before 1 month

The process is like:
As soon as you book the tickets, first your status on the page for transaction should be Successful (check link-’Check transaction status’) and there will be one more status in devotee zone which could be “In Process”. Then wait for 48-72 hrs for this status to change to “confirmed”. Once, the status is changed to “confirmed” there will be a confirmation by e-mail from the Helicopter Service Provider which ever you booked. After that you need to take the print out of this page with you at the time of Yatra and the print out of confirmation email. You will be required to show these print out along with the photo identity proofs at the time of boarding the helicopter.

Sachin, I am not very sure buddy that you can get the tickets from Sanjichatt or not and that too on the spot. I guess even if you can it may be a be troublesome process. You can count about 6 Hrs gap as safe between return flights. Mata Bhawan is about 3.5 kms from Sanjichatt, so considering you cover it in one hour up and 1 hour for down then 4 Hrs will be enough for bathing, buying prasad and darshan because you will be having the VIP darshan pass as well as you are going by helicopter service.

I also have a small concern which I am not able to get answer to. I am planning yatra in March 1st week and shall availing heli service for the same. I have a small doubt.
Return heli bookings automatically entitles you to priority darshan or you have to book that separately, if yes then how? I tried checking this with shrine board website but they never pick phone and only replied on mail. Global vectra mail said for VIP passes, I will have to contact Katra office only.

But i have an another query that:
1) Should we carry id proof of all the passengers or only one person who booked the tickets?
2) If i am sending somebody for cancel tickets and refund of money, do they need id proof of all the passengers or who booked the tickets? bcoz this is not possible for me to go 48 hours before the departure time, my train would arrive at 8:00 AM on 20/02/2012 and i booked helicopter tickets on the same day at 3.30 PM.Some of my friends going on 15/02/2012 can i give them confirmation mail or my id proof for collecting money?

yes-give ID copy of all passengers with yr letter authorizing the bearer to collect payment on yr behalf giving his ID proof no,attesting his signatures-signed by both parties-refund collector has to show his original ID at Helipad-advise him to be in Q at 0800

1. Yes, you need to carry valid PhotoID proof of all the passengers.
2. I am not even sure about this because I feel this if for the cancellation only, though this process has been updated by someone (rangalni) in the above comments. You can always try and also email them at admin@maavaishnodevi.org to know the exact details about the refund. It is highly likely that on your behalf no one else can get the refund. Not sure how this clause came by.

Hi Amit,
Well, since you have booked the tickets for helicopter you will get the semi-VIP type of access to the temple. Though 3.5 Hrs could be small difference and you need to rush through your pilgrimage. However, in February, you may not find much crowd, so it might just be enough. Also, I feel the helicopter services may not be very strict with the timings and may accommodate you in other flight in case you missed yours, subject to availability. But, do confirm this first.

I made two transaction for the booking of 5 tickets dated 20/02/2012 katra to sanchichat from Global Vectra on the name of Bharat Jain and 4 members total 5 tickets booked on 21/01/2012 but due to struck in HDFC Payment Gateway one transaction failed and global vectra charged for both transaction amount (Rs. 3551/-+ Rs 3551/- = Rs. 7102/-) from my credit card, how can i get my money back for one transaction which not done so far.
So it deducted twice from my credit card and showing only one transaction in the Devotee Zone as status, which is successful.

For those taking the helicopter, would you know if the walking trail from Sanjichhat to Bhawan is the SAME trail that yatris walking all the way from Katra also join? Trying to understand if we can carry a toddler on the trail from Sanjichhat helipad to the mandir (and back) relatively easily.
