You can now make online booking of tickets for the helicopter services running on the Katra – Sanjichhat – Katra section for Mata Vaishno Devi. The return fare from Katra – Sanjichhat – Katra is Rs 2,010 and the one-way fare is Rs 1,005 (as of September 2018). After confirming the ticket online, you need to carry valid identity proof such as a PAN card, voter ID card, driving license, passport, etc.
I believe this will certainly help a lot more people (mainly physically challenged / unfit or old aged) to visit the holy place and surely is a welcome step by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB). Thanks to them for the same as perhaps now my parents can also try to attempt this divine pilgrimage.

Updates – January 2022
- The Vaishno Devi ticket fare is increased to Rs 1005/- one way and Rs 2010 return as of September 2018.
- Cancellation of helicopter tickets is allowed now and it can be done till 7 days in advance and a 50% amount is refunded.
- The reservation starts at 10.00 AM now instead of 00.00 hrs earlier.
- Online Yatra parchi is now free of cost ( earlier it was at Rs 50/-) and about 15000 parchies are open for booking every day.
- Online booking of helicopter services for Vaishno Devi opens up 60 days in advance at 10 AM and it can be done a minimum of 4 days in advance of the journey.
- Pawan Hans will no more operate from 01.04.14, the contract is given to Himalayan Heli Services from 01.04.14 Global & Himalayan Heli Services will operate only.
Can I get current Vaishno Devi Helicopter Tickets at the counter?
Yes, you can purchase the current helicopter tickets of Vaishno Devi from the ticket counter at Katra. You need to have a valid photo ID proof for yourself and all members of your group to avail the current tickets.
Now, Yatra’s registration slip (parchi) is mandatory to purchase the current Vaishno Devi helicopter tickets at the counter. Please do not fall for any touts or agents and note that the charges of helicopter tickets are Rs 1005 for one way and Rs 2010 for a return ticket. The rates are exclusive of any taxes which will be charged in addition to it.
You may encounter a lot of touts or agents trying to cheat you by charging more money for the Vaishno Devi helicopter tickets. DO NOT purchase such tickets as it is not allowed officially.
Vaishno Devi Helicopter Tickets – Online Booking Process
Time needed: 1 hour
Below is the detailed step-by-step process of booking the Maa Vaishno Devi helicopter tickets online.
- User Registration on Maa Vaishno Devi Official Website
Register by clicking the ‘New User Registration’ and provide all the details.
Only one user registration is allowed. It is best to register from a network from which you are sure that no one else would have registered before. Otherwise, the website will not allow you to register. Use your mobile network maybe if nothing works.
- Select flight DateTime and check availability
After successful registration, select the date, route details, flight, and several passengers. Check the availability and start entering passenger details. One user can only book a maximum of 5 helicopter tickets from one credit card or debit card in a month.
- Enter passenger details carefully
Make sure you submit the correct details, double-check before submitting the final step. Once, you submit the details they cannot be changed. Many people make mistakes, so I will recommend that you check all the details twice.
- Make the payment
Enter the credit card or debit card details for processing the payment. On successful payment, you must take the printout of the reservation slip and note down the transaction ID. The transaction will start showing in the Successful transaction history of the home page.
- Check transaction status for any errors
When you are making a reservation and a technical problem happens, make sure that you check the transaction status.
a. If the transaction status is successful, then you do not need to do anything. Now, you can take the printout of your reservation using the re-print option.
b. In the case of a failed transaction, you can retry a new reservation. If the amount has been deducted, you can send the email to ‘online@maavaishnodevi.org’ for the processing of a refund. You should provide the transaction details including tracking ID number / Trace number, user ID, and transaction date.
c. You must send refund requests within 30 days of travel otherwise no refund will be issued. - Take the printout of the Electronic Reservation Slip
Once you make the online reservation, you should take the printout of the Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS). This will need to be presented with other required documents including an original credit card or debit card along with a valid photo ID address proof. Also, you must save the Transaction ID somewhere for all future references. If you cannot take the printout of the ERS, you can send an email to ‘online@maavaishnodevi.org’ within 48 hours of the transaction date.
Important Note – Vaishno Devi Helicopter Tickets
Please note that www.maavaishnodevi.org is the only official website of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB). You should use only this website for any online purchases including the purchase of helicopter tickets and SHOULD NOT use any other unofficial means to purchase the tickets. The above-mentioned rates in this article are official rates and only taxes are extra to be paid with it. SMVDSB does not have authorized any travel agent to sell helicopter tickets. Hence, you should not pay any other charges to an agent as it is not allowed officially to purchase tickets by other means.
Cancellation Policy of Vaishno Devi Helicopter Tickets
- You can cancel the helicopter tickets booked online using the official website only. You cannot request the cancellations over the counter or other means.
- You will get 70% of the fare in return and 30% gets deducted against processing charges.
- You can cancel your helicopter tickets up to 4 days in advance before the scheduled date of travel.
- The amount will get refunded to the same account through which you did the transaction.
- In case of cancellation of the helicopter flights from Katra to Sanjichhat or Sanjichhat to Katra due to bad weather or other technical reasons, a full refund will be made to you. In such a case, pilgrims should submit their online Helicopter ticket to the respective helicopter operator.
Important Questions – Vaishno Devi Helicopter Tickets
You should carry the original Credit Card or Debit card with which you have purchased the helicopter tickets for Vaishno Devi yatra. In the absence of the original credit card or debit card, you will be denied boarding without any refund.
In addition, you must carry an original valid Photo ID and Address Proof for yourself and everyone in your group, without which boarding will be denied. The documents which are accepted are Passport, Aadhar Card, Driving Licence, Voters ID or PAN card, or any Credit Card with Photo.
The helicopter ride takes just 8-10 minutes from Katra to Sanjichhat and a similar time it takes to return from Sanjichhat to Katra.
Children below two years of age are allowed to ride free provided they are carried in the lap of the parents. In case of a dispute, you may be required to present a copy of your child’s birth certificate. So, do carry it with you.
You should reach at least 1 hr before the departure of your helicopter flight to Katra or Sanjichhat. If you do not reach in time, you may be marked as NO SHOW and no refund will be issued in such a case.
The helipad is about 2 KMs away from the Katra bus stand. You can either walk/hike or take a local auto/taxi to reach the Helipad and board your flight.
Vaishno Devi Bhawan is about 2.5 KMs from the Sanjicchat helipad. The gradient of the walk is low and simple, you will easily reach Bhawan in an hr or so from the Sanjichhat helipad.
The helicopter will carry 5-6 passengers in one flight.
Yes, the Vaishno Devi helicopter flights are subject to weather, visibility, and flying conditions. If it is unsafe to travel or fly, the flights will be canceled. A full refund of tickets will be issued in such a case.

Briefing Governor NN Vohra, who is the Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, RK Goyal, CEO of the shrine board, said after pursuing a transparent bidding process the one-way passenger fare for the helicopter travel between Katra and Sanjichhat had come down from Rs 1,225 per passenger to Rs 699 per passenger from April 1 this year.
Expressing satisfaction over the significant reduction in the helicopter fares, the Governor hoped that a large number of senior citizens and physically challenged pilgrims would get an opportunity to avail of this facility, considering that the helicopter service was now available at a reasonable price. He called for effective day-to-day monitoring of the helicopter operations.
Goyal stated that for the convenience of the pilgrims the board had further streamlined the procedure for ticketing of the helicopter services on the Katra-Sanjichhat-Katra sector.
He added that the passengers, who wished to avail of the helicopter services, could log on to the shrine board’s website (www.maavaishnodevi.org) and confirm an e-ticket after making the required payment.
The Yatris could also avail of the online ticketing facility through the website of the two helicopter operators, viz, Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd ( https://www.pawanhans.co.in ) and Global Vectra Helicorp Ltd (http://www.onlineglobalhelicorp.com ).
Dr Mandeep Bhandari, Additional CEO of the board, clarified that a pilgrim possessing an e-ticket must carry a valid proof of his or her identity like a passport, PAN card, voter ID card, driving license etc., which bore the name and other particulars of the pilgrim to secure a hassle-free access to the heliports at Katra and Sanjichhat.
He advised all pilgrims, who intended to avail of the helicopter services, to secure a confirmed ticket before finalizing their travel plans.

I made two reservations(total 8 people) for Heli Booking for Feb 21.One of the them shows as 'in process' under devotee zone however the other one doesnt show at all. I did recieve the track ID # for it though. I have sent an email to 'online@maavaishnodevi.org' Is there anotherfaster way to check the status? I am not sure if I should be making another attempt at it.

Of course, my advice is do not make any other attempt as it may also fail leaving you stuck with more money and the refund process is painstaking slow. The email ID is the only option to communicate AFAIK along with other contact numbers mentioned on the website for helicopter service providers. The sad part of the story is those contact numbers are never answered over phone.

You can purchase over there but it will be expensive. Few days before(10/01/2012) my friend's family was there and they purchase some woollen clothes. And per their experience it was just double or triple as compare to normal rates. If you take my suggestion please purchase it from your place. But it should be heavy woollen otherwise you will suffer in colder weather.

As suggested by Vijay, it will be very costly in Jammu or Katra. Plus weather is too cold and I cannot even think of going out without woolens even in Delhi, not sure how much colder it will be in Jammu. It is advisable to come prepared with heavy woolens from home town itself. Do not forget to buy the inner thermals and dress up in layers. I hope this helps.

1. Any reason to expect crowds that day (festival, public holiday, etc)?
2. Is the walk from Sanjichhat to Bhawan and back easy? My mom has arthritis and can walk on flat ground, but climbing is a challenge for her. From reading your other posts, I think she will not be able to see Bhairon temple.
3. Are you aware of any assistance (palanquin?) between Sanjichhat and Bhawan, which may be useful for aged devotees like my mom.
4. Have you come across any recent information on priority or VIP darshan, either as part of the helicopter service or for a separate payment?
5. What are the options for those who may miss the last helicopter back to Katra, due to delays in Darshan?

1. I do not think there is any reason for crowd in April as I do not think there are any festivals in April which might increase the rush.
2. Yes, I remember Bhairon hike, as it was steep enough. From Sanjhchatt I am sorry I do not remember exactly if it was that tough or not because last time we took the route from Himkoti, which just before Ardh Kuwari I guess. This route was almost flat and easy and much shorter than the older one. Since, ponies and mules are not allowed on this route it is very much cleaner too.
3. Not, sure but I feel there should be some arrangements for sure. Any one who has done recently might be able to comment on the same. Sorry for this one too.
4. Yes, I guess if yo buy the helicopter tickets you get the VIP Darshan, though not surely in entirety VIP darshan but yes there is some privilege for sure associated to it, in case you go via Helicopter.
5. I guess as long as there is flight left in the day, you will be accommodated in the next flight. Please confirm about it, first as I am not 100% sure.

Thanks for such warm words. Glad that you guys appreciate the effort here.
Temperature is too cold up there and by the recent pictures of maa viashno devi shrine, it is snow snow everywhere but yatra is going on and pilgrims are overjoyed by this sheer presence of snow too. Just be prepared with heavy woolens and if possible, some warm water proof shoes. No sure, but some of the items in the list linked here (I used to carry while I travel) might be useful for you guys as well for the Yatra.
There are counters available just before you reach Mata Bhawan from where you can easily buy prasad. No need to carry it from Katra itself. You can carry anything you like during chadhayi but nothing is allowed inside the temple premises. There is a free locker services which is available once you reach Bhawan and there you can submit all things you are carrying such as leather items, mobile phones, cameras or any other travel related equipment. You can only carry prasad and cash inside the bhawan/temple and rest all needs to be submitted to the locker room.

Well that is not a silly question at all because it becomes very difficult to enjoy in snow if feet become wet and very uncomfortable too. Not, sure if you are very much into trekking or things but you should atleast be carrying shoes which may keep your feet warm and dry. I guess for nominal snow, woodland or similar make will do fine if you have them already. Otherwise, if you putting up in Delhi then go to some army wear shop in Sadar Bazar, Delhi Cantt. and get water proof type (they won't be 100% but enough for yatra) shoe for yourself. The only reason why I am suggesting it is due to the presence of snow otherwise normal Running/Jogging shoe may do fine. I hope this helps.

Well Dheeraj I am based at Chandigarh so I think right now I have to pass the time with joggers only.I remember 2 years back i went to a trip to Kullu Manali in snowfall and we enjoyed a lot in snow but after snow play it was all chilled feet and wet shoes.I will carry atleast 2 pairs of shoes with me this time….

Don't worry about the bookings. Just remember your loginId and password you used for booking. After 3-4 days, the status will be updated on that website. Regarding cancellation, I have given some email-ids some days back, you may try to contact them, it helped me, so I think it will help you also. I Tarun Kumar Agarwal booked the 4 seats from Katra to Sanjichat for 26/01/2012 from Pawan Hans flight at 14.40,but as i made the payment of INR 2841.46 by HDFC credit card the payment has been debited but no bookings is showing in Devotee zone,
I tried again 2 times more but same thing happened the amount has been debited but no bookings showing,
Now three times the amount of INR 2841.46 is debited but no booking showing,please find below my payment details & you are requested to confirm the booking & refund the amount of rest 2 transactions,
Payment 1: Amount of INR 2841.46 debited on 02/01/2012 at 15.14.38 by HDFC credit card

Sorry Tarun, apart from that email ID I also do not have much information available. Also, I guess it has been noted above that getting refund from them is a painstaking process and I am not sure why you opted to payout three times. You can give it a day or two to see if the money rolls back, if not then you only have those emailId to take it further or the contact numbers mentioned on the website.

If you dont mind, can you please clear my doubt. I want to know whether there will be any chance of snowfall during that time. Further, i also want to know what happens if snowfall happens? we are planning to do "chadayi" in day time only.. that is we will start by 12 PM and will be back to katra in late hours. I know that it will be a chill weather. we are already prepared for it.
i have not taken any Yatra Parchi.. Should i get it directly from Katra or should i get it from the shrine board's official website?

Hi Charu,
Well, if it snows then it will become a bit difficult though there are shelters at places to save you from it. If you are in the middle of no where then at max you need to walk in snow at nearest shelter. Yes, if weather gods favour then there might be snowfall at that season. Of course, you know it will be extremely chilly so you must go prepared with all sought of heavy woolen clothing. You can of course take the Yatra Purchi from Katra itself, so no worries with that. Yes, of course if you want to beat the queue (though it may not be huge during that time) you can of course get it online at cost of Rs 58 in all per person, AFAIK.

Day02: We shall go for Patnitop from Katra, will stay in Hotel Green Top
Day03: In Patnitop, Hotel Green Top
Day04: Leave for Jammu from Patnitop and will stay in KC Residency in Jammu
Day05: Leave from Jammu at Night
Could you please suggest me in this period, In which hotel I can stay, where i can go and what i can visit. coz of I dont know more about patnitop's places as well as Jammu. Could you please write down me a nice itinerary along with hotel names. I find that above mentioned hotels in itinerary is the best place for stay.

Your itinerary is good and relaxing. You will have good time up there. All tourist spots around Patnitop are nothing but just another spot, so do not bother much and spend a relaxing holiday up there. As far as hotels are concerned I am not sure because had been there very long time back, so do not remember the hotel name. Meanwhile I will search some archives, if I can find few good hotels then I will suggest for sure. I hope this helps.

Hello Vijay,
AFAIK, it depends upon how many pilgrims have come for the darshan. If there is long queue up there for darshan then the time taken will be more and if it is less then you will get free very quickly. Secondly, Bhairo temple is at steep ascent and will take some time to reach there and be back. Spare 2 Hrs for it atleast on average I will say. For darshan and aarti may be 2-3 Hrs. So, over all you looking for about 6-7 Hrs gap to be on safer side. It can be less if there is less rush or you get the VIP darshan (which I assume all people availing helicopter tickets get). But, please confirm it from someone who has availed the service.

If I were you I will keep the time between two flights as atleast six hours because instead of running out or with the time, I will prefer sitting at Sanjjichatt and relaxing there after Darshan. That ways you will be able to take it with ease.

Hi All,
Even dont trust the vaishno devi shrine board website. They are also fraud. I booked tickets but when tried cancelling, they kept on delegating me to different Id's and Numbers. Its now 1 month, and I have not received my refund. I know I will never get that, please don't trust them for anything.
They all are FRAUD.
I dis-agree with you here Shubham as Shrine board website is official and run by them only. I am sure you are in India and you must be knowing how GOVT. influenced offices work here. It is a big challenge for them to first run some online portal and then provide services for it, I hope you agree to it. But, at the end of the day I know these services should be better and infact the whole booking process but that is sorry state of the picture. Here, you have all the data as traceable with all transaction statuses, so no means that you will not get the amount refunded. Of course, I agree that unnecessarily it will take some time for sure and hassles for you.
I feel the lesson which one should learn from your story is that one should book such tickets only in advance when they are sure shot of the dates they will be traveling or be ready to suffer some pain in getting back the amount.

Sampat, do you get any error message. As far as I know, it is just the transaction processing service (payment gateways) that is being used of those two banks. You can actually use any bank credit or debit cards there.

I booked my tickets on 13/12/2011 for the travel on 12th Jan 2012. By mistake, I booked the wrong tickets for my return journey. I tried calling them but there was no reply on the mentioned numbers. I finally have mailed them on the mentioned mail id and attached the ticket's snapshot.
Also, when I printed the tickets, the time is not mentioned.
Is there any option from which I can track by Helicopter Booking. Please help, I feel myself to be in deep trouble.

Write the mail to them if they are not picking up the phone and cancel the tickets and book new tickets for the required dates. I guess this is the only procedure. There is no other option atleast I know about, on how to track these bookings. I feel if they can only manage to maintain this little website and services only, it should be enough. So, forget about tracking for now, atleast 🙁 … This is the sorry state, I am afraid. Please mail your concern to online@maavaishnodevi.org as well.

Hi !! Just booked tickets for 8 pax from Katra to Sanjichat and back journey from shrine board site. As the max no. of passengers in a single ride is 5 ,i managed to get 5+3 in two slots for going to sanjichat, but the return tickets are individual i.e. 8 tickets in different 8 different time slots ! Will that be a problem ?? I heard from someone that the timings is not that script as mentioned in the ticket and it can be adjusted at the discretion of the operator !. The least we are getting a gap of around 2 hours from getting down at sanjichat and then boarding for katra at snjichat after mata ka darshan. Any inputs on this ??? Also the transactions are all in "in process" status at the devotees individual page.

Yes, this is the pitty of these sites as I am not sure why they cannot maintain the functional issues. It is just ridiculous to see such lack of responsibility and services offered by them. First your status on the page for transaction should be Successful (check link-’Check transaction status’) and there will be one more status in devotee zone as soon as you login, which should say “In Process”. Then wait for 48-72 hrs for the status to change to “confirmed” with simultaneous receipt of a confirmation by e-mail from the Helicopter Service Provider which ever you booked. After that you need to take the print out of this page with you at the time of Yatra and the print out of confirmation email.
If the above status are not shown then write an email to online@maavaishnodevi.org referencing the transaction of your bank account from where the account has been debited. Sometimes, it so happens that after sometime money is credited back again. But, I am sure though little late but you will get your replies from the above mail address.

i am going to vaishno devi in month of dec. i have seached that we can direcly book the tickets of pawanhans from safdarjung airport but when i contact tem they said they got an order from shrine board and they have siezed the tickets and we can only book the tickets from vaishno devi site .which is impossible that site nevr reponds even for the rooms or helicoptor.this is sad. now iam looking for some reliable agent who can book the tickets.

Try different internet browsers on your system and see if it helps phase out the functional issues of the website. Otherwise, you need to get in touch with travel agents based in Jammu and unluckily and to the shame they will charge you too much inflated prices 🙁 …

Kamal, unfortunately these sites are down when I checked too. Perhaps apart from contacting some travel agent based in Jammu/Katra you do not have any choice other than wait to get sites up and running.

Hi I m traveling with 3 people on 21.12.2011 . There are loads of confusion that these helicopter companies are creating.
1. Acc. To these companies tickets can only be issued 30 days in advance and when you try to book tickets on the 30 th day before the date of traveling the tickets are sold out.
2. they can't sell the tickets to the travel agents as name of the passenger is required at the time ticket is issued as per my info.

Though I am not sure buddy but yes I guess Ramesh has mentioned in the above comments that you can book tickets from Helicopter Services Providers (Pawan Hans and Global Heli Corp) 30 + 1 day in advance. But, from Maa Vaishno Devi site you can book tickets in 30 day in advance. Hence, I feel it will be great if you can try tomorrow or day after tomorrow from these websites to book your tickets. Try all three sites and may be you will get the tickets.Otherwise get in touch with some Jammu / Katra based travel agent who can arrange the tickets for you for sure.

Well, I do not think that you can book tickets in so advance time. Try to get hold of some travel agent based in Jammu who can be of some help in this regard or know any alternatives. AFAIK, one cannot book the tickets, however from the helicopter services sites, Ramesh has updated in above comments that you can book 1 Month + 1 Day in advance. So, you get that extra day where the chances of booking the tickets increase. The time when you are planning, I feel you will be able to get them online in advance with fair ease.

AFAIK, the process is like –
As soon as you book the tickets, first your status on the page for transaction should be Successful (check link-'Check transaction status') and there will be one more status in devotee zone which could be "In Process". Then wait for 48-72 hrs for this status to change to “confirmed”. Once, the status is changed to "confirmed" there will be a confirmation by e-mail from the Helicopter Service Provider which ever you booked. After that you need to take the print out of this page with you at the time of Yatra and the print out of confirmation email. You will be required to show these print out along with the photo identity proofs at the time of boarding the helicopter.
And for the second query, as long as you carry valid PhotoID proof you will not face any issues as per my knowledge. So, it will be OK.

Devang, are you using this link to check the status? https://www.maavaishnodevi.org/transaction.asp … It requires Trace Number and Order number. Once you login to Devotee zone, you will see these numbers against each Track ID. Those number you need to fill in to get the details. Since, I do not have these numbers I cannot check the status. It will be available from your Devotee account only.

You can get the Yatra Purchi online using the official website linked here. Since, you have already booked the helicopter tickets you will be having a devotee ID. Login to your account using that ID and then click on "Mata Ka Bulawa (Yatra Parchi)" link on the left side just below "Online Services" text. Select the date when you want to start the Yatra and click the button down. You will reaach the screen where the availability of Yatra Parchi is shown. Select payment gateway and enter the number of yatris and on the next screen enter the details of each yatri with you. You need to pay amount of Rs 58.67 per yatri for the Yatra Purchi. Once, you click Submit button you need to complete the credit card transaction. After approval of the payment via the payment gateway, you need to Click on the Continue Button which shall take the devotees to the Yatra Parchi. Kindly take a Printout of the Yatra Parchi Page, which shall be required for reproduction at Banganga check post Banganga, Katra. Then you also have to move to the next Screen for transaction details and you should keep a Printout of this screen as well for reference.
Also from the site "While going for Yatra, the devotee shall have to keep with them the printouts of Yatra Parchi and Transaction Details. Devotees having Online Yatra Parchi Shall have to report at Banganga check post Banganga, Katra. Alongwith the Yatra Parchi, atleast one proof of Identity e.g. Credit Card, Passport, Driving Licence, Photo Identity Card of Election Commission of India or any other official Identity Card shall be required to prove the Identity of the Devotee."

I just checked it and it is working fine at my end. Is it something like the payment gateway sites are blocked in your network environment? I do not see any issues with the Website as of now. I tried using HDFC Gateway after clicking the button "To Payment Gateway" it took me to page for further processing of the payment. Please try again with some different connection may be.

Thanks a ton Dheeraj for your prompt feedback. I shall try booking through some other portal as suggessted by you. I am yet getting a 404 error (google chrome) or the page is simply redirecting me to the search engine homepage (internet explorer). Btw after payment gateway page immediately on hitting the same are you once again getting a page with Yatra Parchi on the upper right corner and some other pics/links not loading? and Finally when u click any of these you get a error message or get redirected. Anyways I will take your advice.

Well Alpana, I feel there is something wrong with the machine you are using. As of now, I went through the process again. I have Win7 with Chrome. After login, once I click on Yatra Parchi registration link, it gets open in my base page not in new window. There I selected the Yatra date and clicked "check availability" button. It redirected me to page where you enter number of pilgrims and select the Payment Gateway. I selected HDFC Bank and clicked Submit. Then Yatri details form comes up which you need to fill and after verification click submit. The button will change into "To payment gateway>>" button and once I click that it takes me to the payment gateway page without any issue.
There are no images missing on any page and neither I get 404 not found error. Try to use some different machine or some different internet connection. May be any antivirus is blocking your sites or some policy at network level. I hope this helps.

These are two different things. To answer first, Yatra Parchi is mandatory for all pilgrims so you need to take it irrespective of the fact that you go by Helicopter or not. Now secondly, you can either get it online by paying about Rs 58 for each pilgrim or you can get it free of cost personally from Katra.

1. E-ticket: Do we get the e-ticket from shrine board / carriers if the booking for helicopet is done through http://www.maavaishnidevi.org or just confirmation mail from shrine board is enough?
2. Priority Darshan: Is priority darshan still applicable for helicopter devotees, if yes then where should I get the priority tickets from?
3. Digital Cameras & mobiles are allowed while journey to sanjichhat?
I think these will be some of operational queries from other devotees also. Request if you can help out.

It is my pleasure. Thanks for the appreciations. As for the replies, please find them below —

2. No there is no such thing called priority darshan for helicopter yatris. No privilege is given in terms of darshan in either case.
3. Yes, they will be allowed I guess as lots of people do take them along.

On the pawanhans website, there is reference to priority darshan…if you could clarify the situation.. in fact this is more inportant as our return time lag between onward and return journy is just 3 hours and i will be travelling with my aged parents (who are slow in walking , from sanjicchat to bhawan)
2. there is restriction in vaishnodevi srin board website regarding ban on mobiles etc.,.. so whats the actual situation?

Apologies for the delayed reply. It is great that you finally got the confirmation done. Well, print out of this email and transaction details is all you need. There will be no specific e-ticket. Regarding other queries –
1. I guess they provide some sought of VIP Pass for Darshan if you have the return ticket. I am not too sure about that buddy. May be you won't have to go in queue and will be allowed to directly enter near the Bhawan. You need to check that from the helicopter services regarding same.
2. Well, you can carry mobiles/cameras upto bhawan (not inside though) and from there on, I guess there is a free locker service cloak room where you can submit them near the bhawan. Only prasad and cash is allowed inside the Bhawan.
It will be very cold up there in December, so go prepared with heavy woolens. In the day time, if sunshine is present then you may feel warm a bit but in the shades you will feel the chill. As far as snow is concerned, I guess it is unlikely that you may get to see it. However, you never know if your luck favors then you might 🙂

He booked the helicopter tickets from the official website and the transaction was successful as stated in the Transaction Details. However, the "Status" in the table at bottom of screen of Transaction Details shows — "In Process".
His query is will that status change to something else and then he take the print out and consider the tickets as confirmed??? IMHO, I guess this status will change to "Confirmed " or "Complete" after sometime. Can you please tell what status does your Transaction Details page shows? Also, did you get any confirmation email when the status was changed?
Any inputs to his queries will be highly appreciated here and thanks in advance for the same. It will definitely help alot more people looking for the same information.

You can check the links provided in the article above to book your tickets from the official websites of Maa Vaishno Devi, Pawan Hans or Online Global Heli Corp. mentioned above. Its fairly a simple and straight forward process once you register at the official sites mentioned in the article.
You can register at the official website of Vaishno Devi linked here and then after login to Devotee account, you can book tickets using the link to here">helicopter services and make the payment using any Credit/Debit card of any bank. The cost of the ticket is Rs 699 for one way. You can book your tickets and check more details regarding helicopter services to Maa Vaishno Devi at the link here as well.

Well, that is the sad state of the bookings. I guess either there are too many pilgrims or these tour operators book the tickets on their part well in advance and then sell them. I am not sure about it though. You can check with Travel agents based in Jammu/Katra to have check for tickets or bookings.

I followed the following steps to book the ticket of helicopter for my parents:
1) Went to the URL :https://www.maavaishnodevi.org/helecopter.asp
2) Provided the date, selected the route (Katra to Sanjichat) via Global Vectra, no of Adults
3) After that filled the details of my parents in the fields provided and submited the details
4) After submit the page went to HDFC payment gateway
5) I provided my debit card details
6) After payment the page came back to the maavaishnodevi website and displayed the track Id, trace no, Booking date, No of Adults
7) But it didn't provided any other details like date&time of departure of chopper, route etc
so my questions is
1) do we need any more details other than track Id, trace no and order no at the time when we reach to aboard the chopper?
2) I have got the print out of the details including track Id, trace no, order no, so do we need any other ticket?
I am worried on this, beacase I dont want my parents to get panic when they reach there, so please reply to my query.

Didn't you provide the timings?? I guess there is timing field as well which you fill when you select the date as well. Whenever you book tickets you all select the time you want these tickets. All I know/read is that you are required to report at the departure heliport one hour before the notified departure time of the flight. Also, each advance booked passenger is required to produce his/her valid photo identity at the time of check-in.
Other than that one must carry print out of the transaction details including Track ID No, Trace No etc. during transaction for their reference and further communication (which you have already done). Just make SURE that your transaction status is not failure.

I guess that "In Process" at last will either change to complete or confirmed in about 2 days. Then, you can take the print out with you wile you go there. I do not think so that you will be able to find any chppoer service from Mumbai – Vaishno Devi – Mumbai. I guess you need to hire some private chopper for the same. No, buying a helicopter ticket do not entitle you for VIP entry. You still need to get the Yatri Purchi either online from the official website or at the first checkpost before Baan Ganga after you reach Katra. I hope this helps. Please let me know for any further queries or doubts.

Yes, it is totally safe to carry kids and infact you will see loads of people with their kids and infant. Just make sure that you protect the little one (1.5 yrs) with proper clothing (woolens as well) so that he do not catch up any cold. Winters have begun to set in to the Himalayan region so nights will be colder. Well, on the ponies they do take care but again you need to be a bit careful as sometime ponies run into each other and for some people it is not all that comfortable to ride pony. So, you need to jusdge the situation then and there. As per safety terms they are pretty much safe, just keep them under watch.
Also, the hike is pretty much simple, if you are fit person and can carry the little one along with you. Anyways, you do not need to book them online or advance, plenty of them are available once you reach Katra.

You are most welcome anytime. I am sure you will be able to do it with much ease. Once you reach Addh Kuanri, it is merely flat surface till Bhavan. You just need to walk.
Including Darshan 9-12 Hrs are sufficient IMHO for entire up-down. But, if it takes a lot of time in the queues then you might take longer. It is good fun and very very godly environment as you get strength with each and every step you take.

whats a better helicopter service ? Pawan hans or Global vectra? Are they reliable in terms of timings? How much time before do i need to reach before the boarding time? Well, both Helicopter services are equivalent in terms of services. As far as timings are concerned I guess yes, they are reliable and never heard any major trouble but of course climatic conditions does play a major role in these flights. You need to report 1 Hours before the actual timing of your flight. I do not think you get the VIP darshan if you go via Helicopter, it is a convenience not a privilege. So, you need to go through the regular workflow. The cost of the ticket is Rs 699 for one way. Nopes, Sanjay most of the tickets are sold before hand and I doubt you will be able to get any tickets on the after reaching Katra. I will suggest that you pre-book them and then go.

I guess it will be better if you call him directly as he may/may not see this information for long time. Booking for 1st Jan will start from next month so try to book them online yourself. Try the sites of Helicopter services who let you book 1 day 1 month in advance, as stated by Ramesh in above comments. So, you can use that one day to book your tickets with certainty I feel and also I guess since that won't be rush time so you will be able to book the tickets booked online with much ease. I guess yes and it will not be much of a problem as far as minor are concerned, AFAIK. At last you can always take the photocopy of the Birth Certificate to be completely on safe side along with the report card. But, again it might not be checked at all but you never know 🙂

E-Payment is possible using any credit card or debit card. I guess it is the payment gateway that is either HDFC or ICICI or Citibank you are talking about. Payment gateway can be of any bank as its just a means to process the e-payments to the respective merchant. It is like same as card payment machines which are available at vendors when we shop as those machines can be of any other bank but we can still pay using our bank credit/debit card.
So, I guess, you can pay through SBI Debit Card as it is mentioned on the payment gateway site which i checked (HDFC) that debit cards are also accepted. I hope this helps.
