The Journey so far-
We started the trek downwards to Sari Village and made quick progress. This was proving to be easy as compared to last day and within no time we were at the first shelter. This proved we had lots of time to enjoy but unluckily my camera was out of battery 🙁 … Since, there was another spare P&S we tried our hand onto it, in any case we had to have some pictures which were left for today 😀 … We reached the local temple of Sari Village and spent good 30 minutes there with the priest. The priest seemed very knowledgeable towards the geography of the place and was an ex-service men too who was enjoying his life by offering it to god. Well, with all the blessings of Lord Shiva, we moved further down and reach the place where we had parked our car.
Here is the set of pictures taken while trekking down from Deoria Tal to Sari Village. We enjoyed each moment to the best.
Now, the plan was to pick Umeid, our guide for snow trek to Tunganath, next day. Umeid was supposed to meet us at Ukhimath and from where, we all had to come back to Duggalbitta 2-3 KMs before Chopta to stay overnight. We called up Umeid and he told us that he will reach at Ukhimath around 2 PM. Meanwhile, we decided to have lunch at GMVN Rest house at Ukhimath and asked Umeid to catch us there. Coincidently, the care taker of GMVN, Ukhimath was also named Umeid, who cooked nice, light and tasty food for us followed by a cup of tea. Now, within 2-3 hours weather had turned up on its head and it was heavily raining. The weather forecast did say so when we started our journey and hence, according to the same we hoped to have clear weather tomorrow for the trek. I called up at Duggalbitta to confirm about the weather and he told us too that it is raining there as well. We finally decided to stay at GMVN, Ukhimath only because there was no point trying the hands on weather when I still had the jinx of my Ladakh journey 😆 …
Umeid has also reached and we told him that we will be staying here only for the night as weather has turned bad. He also agreed to it and joined us for a good time @ chit-chats. He seemed to be good company. Meanwhile, there was no stopping for the rain, so we managed to have a sleep while Umeid did the rest of the preparations for the Tunganath trek. It was dinner time soon and again I must say food was of decent quality and taste. We exchanged few words with both Umeid’s and before going to sleep asked the Umeid-2 (cook) to prepare rotis and alloo jeera for trek’s lunch early in the morning. The plan was to leave at 6 AM next morning, which directed all of us to sleep early for the night :)…
