Delhi to Fagu – Photo Tale of DoW Mega Meet 2014

It was finally the day on 12th September 2014, when we kick started the DoW Mega Meet 2014. Since, a lot of travel tales already I have written on Spiti Valley for my past visits, I will try top make this Travel Tale of DoW Mega Meet 2014 to Spiti Valley in the form of a Photo Tale where I will be writing only the important events or happenings of the day and passing away the minute details. This will help you enjoy the epic adventurous journey we took to Spiti Valley in DoW Mega Meet 2014. It was a big day for DoW as about 70 odd people from all over India joined this edition of DoW Mega Meet and all were equally excited for the trip. There were numerous learning from the Mega Meet for me specially in terms of laying out the rules for the participating members in next editions of DoW Mega Meets. But, we will talk about them in some other article.

Day 1 | Delhi – Fagu

Getting back to the topic, I started the day from Delhi at 2 PM for Fagu ahead of Shimla, which was the official kick – off point for Mega Meet and all members participating in the meet were supposed to be assembled there at Fagu on 13th September morning from where we all leave together. I was accompanied with my friend Shakti, who was with me on last Mega Meet too and my cousin Dhruv. We started smoothly and had lunch at Sukhdev Dhabha or hotel where Pawan ji along with Samar and three more devils (Vinay, Anees & Souban) were waiting for us since long time as we got delayed too. After a long lunch, we resumed the journey on the highway to Shimla. After reaching Ambala, three idiots, drunk, turned the bike from last lane into first lane which forced me to put sudden brakes. Our car crashed into the divider but thank god that all of us were safe and no major damage was not done apart from the left front wheel rim which got dis-oriented. There was an angel soul watching the entire incident and crossed the road to help us out. We changed the Stepney and reached Ambala flyover where Preet was waiting for us to hand over the Cricket kit for DoW Cricket Cup to be held in Kaza. We told about the accident and then he took us deep inside Ambala to get the rim replaced with the new one. All set with 6 tyres, yes I was carrying an extra stepney too 😀 😀 …

It was all dark as we resumed on highway and then it was pure bliss of a driver from Himalayan Expressway all the way to Shimla – Fagu. The roads were all wet and it had rained up there in hills, so very pleasant and fresh air was soothing the mood for us after that mishap. At around 12:00 we reached Fagu and had dinner at the only dhabha opened during that odd hour of the night. Pawanji and Samar group already had their dinner there and were waiting for us only. Without having any other thought, we checked-in at HPTDC – Apple Blossom around 1 AM and slept for the night as that was our assembling point and many devils were already staying up there in this hotel. This ended the Day 0 of DoW Mega Meet 2014 for us with that one major mishap.
